Vibe Ideas collects only what is needed to run the service: an account identifier when you sign in, the prompts and ideas you generate, two cookies (one signed authentication session, one signed "anonymous first idea" entitlement marker), and standard server logs. Generation prompts are sent to OpenAI and, for some features, Anthropic. Vote integrity uses a one-way HMAC of your IP — no raw IP is stored against votes. We do not sell personal data. What information do we collect?
- Account data — when you sign in, we receive a unique account identifier and basic profile fields (display name, email if provided) from the authentication provider (Replit Auth).
- Generated content — the prompts and preferences you submit, and the ideas and follow-up chats they produce. These are stored against your account so you can return to them.
- Cookies — a signed session cookie that keeps you logged in, plus a signed
anon_first_ideacookie (24-hour TTL) so anonymous visitors can read the one free idea they just generated. - Vote integrity — to prevent ballot stuffing on idea votes we derive a per-voter identifier from your account ID (or, for signed-out visitors, from a one-way HMAC of your IP address). No personally identifiable IP value is stored.
- Technical data — IP address, browser user-agent, request path, and timestamp via standard server logs (used for abuse detection and rate limiting).
Which AI providers receive my prompts?
To generate ideas and answer follow-up questions, your prompt text and selected idea fields are sent to:
- OpenAI — the primary model provider (GPT-4o family) for idea generation, follow-up chat, and the subject pre-screen.
- Anthropic — used as a secondary provider for select tasks where Claude performs better.
Both providers process the prompt under their respective enterprise / API privacy terms. Vibe Ideas does not opt your prompts into model training when the provider's API offers a no-training option.
How do we use this information?
- To generate, store, and display the ideas you request.
- To enforce per-IP and per-account rate limits on AI calls.
- To improve our prompts, taxonomy, and product experience.
- To detect abuse and keep the service secure.
- To communicate important updates about the service (when you provide an email).
Do we sell or share personal data?
No. We do not sell personal data. We share limited data with the service providers we need to run Vibe Ideas — hosting (Replit), database (Postgres), authentication (Replit Auth), and AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic) — under each provider's confidentiality terms.
How long do you keep my data?
Account data, generated ideas, and follow-up chats are kept for as long as your account is active. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days for abuse detection and then rotated. You can request earlier deletion at any time.
How do I request data deletion?
Email hello@vibeideas.app from the address associated with your account. We will delete your account record, your generated ideas, and your chat history within 30 days. Aggregated, de-identified analytics may be retained.
Your choices
You can browse, generate, and read ideas without an account. You can disable cookies in your browser, but the service will not work as expected (you cannot stay logged in or claim your free generated idea).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted on this page with a revised "last updated" date.
